| Chemistry and the Arts Lecture Series
The Rochester Section of the American Chemical Society is pleased to present a series of lectures highlighting the role of chemistry in the arts. These lectures feature experts who will explore this role of chemistry, from the dawn of civilization using completely empirical approaches to current times in which the most sophisticated methods of material science and analytical chemistry are applied to arts-related areas.
These lectures are free and open to the public. Each lecture will be followed by an informal reception.
A PDF Flier of the complete lecture series is available for downloading here.

| Harrison Howe Award Nominations
The Rochester Section is accepting nominations for the next Harrison Howe Award. The award will be granted to an individual, without regard to nationality, for outstanding contributions to research in chemistry defined in its broadest sense. The award typically recognizes a relatively young recipient with potential for further outstanding achievement. The award consists of a plaque and an honorarium presented to the recipient on the occasion of an award dinner and lecture in Rochester, NY.

In addition to his role as a leader in the Rochester Section, Harrison Howe was the founding editor of Chemical and Engineering News and a champion of industrial research and development. It was his belief that chemistry and the pursuit of chemical knowledge contribute to the betterment of society - the Harrison Howe Award is given each year in this spirit.
